WE’RE OFF TO THE PHILIPPINES TODAY!

Our dear family and friends,

We’re here at the ATL airport waiting to board our plane, and our feelings are mixed.  An excitement to finally be ready to do the work God has called us to do, yet there’s this heaviness in our hearts and an inability to take a deep breath.  We knew it would be this way as we said goodbye to our kids and grand babies.  All because of love.

After weighing everything we own and deciding which items are most important to us, we’re finally packed and as ready as we can be.

Growing up, my mother (Susan’s) used to say, “Clean your house like you’re moving overseas and everything you own has to be weighed.  What is most important to you?  Get rid of things and don’t be weighed down by them.”    I remember asking her, “But, what if I miss something I let go of?”  She very matter-of-factly replied, “You’ll get over it”!  And it’s true – we’re not struggling with missing the things we left behind, we’re struggling with our precious family and friends we’re leaving  behind.

We arrive in Manila tomorrow and will then spend about three days there beginning the visa process and orientation with Dan and Tori, the missionaries who are currently there.  Toward the end of the week we’ll finally arrive on Boracay.

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.”    I Corinthians 2:9

 “The LORD bless you and keep you;
 the LORD make his face shine on you
 and be gracious to you;
 the LORD turn his face toward you
 and give you peace.”

 Thank you to all of you for your prayers, love and support.
